Legacy of the Light DVD Sale
This 12-minute documentary was produced for the Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse partnership by Encompass Multimedia, Inc., of Annapolis through the support of the National Park Service Chesapeake Bay Gateways Network. Using recent on-site footage and historical photographs and drawings as well as 3-D animations, the documentary introduces the viewer to the history of the lighthouse, why it is a screwpile lighthouse, what it was like to be a lighthouse keeper, and your important role in helping us to preserve this National Historic Landmark and Chesapeake Bay icon! Listen to the words written by some of the keepers as they survived storms and dealt with the isolation of living at an offshore lighthouse. It includes appearances by Bob Trapani, Executive Director of the American Lighthouse Foundation, lighthouse historian Candace Clifford, and Henry Gonzalez, the Vice President of the U.S. Lighthouse Society and the Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse Manager. The background music for the documentary includes “The Thomas Point Suite”, a three-movement piece composed for woodwind quintet that will make you feel that you are actually out there!
It’s a great way to learn about the lighthouse until we are ready to start public tours and you can come see it in person!
