We Had A Great Beach Party!

The Annapolis Maritime Museum and the US Lighthouse Society's Chesapeake Chapter hosted the first Thomas Point Lighthouse Beach Party to raise both money and awareness for the Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse Project. The festivities were held on Thursday, July 15, at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation's Phillip Merrill Environmental Center in Bay Ridge. The funds raised put us well on our way toward restoration of this wonderful lighthouse.

The event also served as the official release party for the Chesapeake Music Institute's inaugural production, a CD titled Thomas Point Light, a compendium of music inspired by the Chesapeake Bay and the Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse. Some of the Musicians who contributed to this CD were at the party to provide entertainment for the evening. All proceeds from the CD will benefit the Annapolis Maritime Museum and Thomas Point Light.

The evening also offered a silent auction of many high quality items and services, and activities.

The evening highlight was the raffling off of the first official trip to Thomas Point Light in May 2005. Three tickets were drawn, each of which entitles the bearer and one guest to be on the "1st Trip Out" to the Light when public tours begin in May of next year. The winners will spend two hours on and inside the Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse and transportation will be provided.
